We wanted to fill you all in on some changes that have been happening in our life recently.
We are...planning to move.
This has been something that we've been talking about on and off for awhile now. Our ultimate dream was to some day move closer to Beamsville where I grew up and where my family is rooted. We've always lived a bit over an hour away (which I completely acknowledge is a dream for some people) and each time we've shifted around Ben and I would always talk about how nice it would be to live closer. Over the years it seemed that our hope and dream just wasn't meant to be. Ben was constantly on the look out and applying for jobs in the Oakville/Burlington/Stoney Creek area because we wanted to get out of Toronto and away from the busy city life to try to settle into a more calm and quiet area. After months of silence he spotted a job in Kitchener that looked right for him. We talked about whether or not if he should apply there and after many long conversations and prayer he decided to apply to this job. Days later he heard a response and was asked to come in for an interview. We were both so amazed at how quickly this all happened and felt like we were being lead in this direction for a purpose.
So to make a long story short - after many many weeks of searching for a place to live, we ended up on Beaumont, Crescent.
We went from a busy street in Toronto with life and noise - to an extremely quiet subdivision and boy was it a shock for us.
But eventually we got use to it and it became our Home.
We battled the long and crazy winter here in Kitchener - which we're still not completely adjusted to!
Made some really amazing friendships and got to spend good quality time with some family as well.
We have so many wonderful memories from this past year and this move is definitely bittersweet for us. We're going to miss seeing these amazing faces so often but we will definitely be visiting as often as we can! This will be our 4th move in the 4 1/2 years we've been married - so you think by now we'd be use to this! The packing up is our least favorite part of course so that's something that we're obviously dreading. But we're looking forward to see what the new year has in store for us! Ben started his job back in Toronto already and we are in the process of looking for a place to live in Burlington. Since most people don't move during the winter months we haven't been able to find many places to look at yet. So we are being patient and waiting for the right thing to come along.
B: The new job and move came a bit unexpected for us. We moved here a bit over a year in fall planning to stay in Kitchener for a few year. It took us a while to adjust (we maybe never completely did), to switch from a busy town like Toronto where we had tons of stores and places to go in walking distance to a quiet new development area in Kitchener made us feel a bit lost and isolated. Thankfully we both have family in the area, I found nice colleagues at work and we also have made very good friends through our church which helped us to have a good time here. We definitely learned a lot and grew here in many ways but we both had a hard time imaging us growing old here and raising our family here. I also wasn't too happy with my work, I was a one man team and didn't have much of a perspective of changing it. So when I got once again a message from my previous company in Toronto asking if I would be interested in coming back I couldn't say no. It allows us to move to a little bit busier area and closer to family and friends (not to forget that the winter is a little warmer in Burlington). I will still have a bit of a commute from Burlington to Toronto but thankfully I am able to work 2 days a week from home.
We are...
Since Ben needs a car for commuting we had to make the next big decision about getting a new car and what kind to get. We talked about getting a cheap small car for Ben to drive to use for his commute to Toronto 3 days a week and we were looking over our options. We later realized that it wouldn't really make sense for us to buy 2 cars - since we are planning for our family to expand eventually. So we caved and decided a van would be the best purchase for us. I was hesitant about driving a van around at first - but I'm honestly in LOVE with our Dodge Caravan. It's a dream to drive and it's the perfect vehicle for the vertically challenged like myself;) Landon loves being able to see so much more now and we've been really loving the extra space compared the the car.
We recently went on a weekend trip to Cornwall to visit family and we were so amazed at the amount of space this van has - oh and the "Stow 'n' Go is pretty fantastic too! Especially for loose toys and cooler bags that normally would crowd up the aisle way. So we are very happy we made the big step to move up to a van.
And last but not least...
We are...
I had quite the smirk on my face when I was typing "eventually" in the paragraph above...We figured us getting a van would be quite the hint in itself though;) So yeah - Surprise! Hehe.
With all of the pregnancy news spreading around like wild fire it's been pretty hard for us to contain our excitement and not let it slip out. We couldn't be happier about this news and couldn't wait to share it with you all! We have tons of new things happening around here and looks like 2014 will be quite the busy year for us! But I guess changes keep life interesting right?
Have a Great Night Everyone!
S&B
